These knee/leg guards have very little buffer/ricochet space between the actual hard shell and the thin cloth material that rests on the shin. They offer almost no cushion. I got hit in the center of my left shin by a 9-year old and it really hurt. Very minimal protection. I had a goose egg when I took them off. I am very disappointed in the protection that these leg guards provide. I would not buy these again or recommend them to anyone. They look great but looks can be deceiving.
